Poor Duke!
He had his annual appointment Tuesday and our wonderful vet noticed some recent hair loss along with weight gain and said all of these problems could be due to elevated cortisol level so our champion urinator peepee in a cup for them and sure enough he has Cushings disease. We are going to try some oral medications and see if he improves. Hopefully this will all be taken care of before Ensley gets here and Duke can start living a normal life....otherwise he might not make it as a house dog when Ensley arrives.

Monday Monday
Him: (while standing in the middle of first aid aisle after just walking up and not even attempting to look) "Maam where would I find the bandaids?"
Me: "on the top shelf to your left"
A minute or two later...
Him: (again after not attempting to look) "Maam where would I find the vitamins?"
Me: tempted to say on the aisle with all signs stating vitamins "The next aisle to your right"
A minute later...
Him: "Maam, I'm looking for b-i-o-t-i-n"
Me: I take him to the vitamin aisle and show him the biotin.
Him: "can I pay you for these?"
Then at the register...
Him: "is this good for hair skin and nails...that's what she told me to get"
Me: "she told you to get hair skin and nails? Then I'll show you that"
Him: "well what do you think I should get?"
Me: "I think you should get what she told you to get."
So he pays and leaves and then about 4-5 minutes later he comes walking in front of the pharmacy and says,
"Maam I've never been in here and can't get out. Which way is the front of the store?"
My technician had to turn around to keep from laughing in his face which left me to answer his question with a straight face. Bless him!
So then I call a vet office for a refill on a dog...yes animals get their medicine filled here too.
Him(in the MOST country accent you can imagine): "ello"
Me: "is this dr. Soandso office?"
Him: "well, I work for him"
Me: "this is the pharmacy calling to request a refill on one of his patients"
Him: "well I reckon that'd be aight."
Me: "well is the doctor available?"
Him: "nah, he aint here"
Me: "what time do you expect him to be in"
Him: "I reckon he'll be in this afternoon"
So then when I called back, the vet was not much better...whew.
Then a man approached the window and showed one of my techs a pacifier and said in a foreign accent, "my wife sent me for this and nipple stuff for when baby (sucky face) on her." Bless her heart she had no idea what he was talking about and the other tech couldn't hardly keep from laughing long enough to show him where the creams were.
People like this kept our day interesting enough that it flew by and now I am about to enjoy my two days away from this place!! Woohoo!!!

Ensley's Shower

The best part of the shower was the Baby Blessings. Everyone was given a prayer to read aloud. Everything from Ensley's development in the womb to labor and delivery to her future spouse was prayed for during that special time. I saved all of the prayers and will put them in a book to put in her room.We were so blessed with most everything we need for little Ensley's arrival. Tuesday afternoon I put her diaper bag together and hung all of her freshly washed clothes in her closet and put her crib together. All we lack in finishing her room is hanging a few things and reupholstering her rocker.

Now I am off to unpack so I can complete the rest of the rooms in the house!Wednesday, June 16, 2010
If Only She Had Thumbs...
EJ and I went to the apartment last night to get another load of stuff. Kala's kennel is still at the apartment so we just put her in the laundry room at the new house with her food and water while we made a quick 30 minute trip.
We got back and EJ said something smells good like baby powder. Then he opened the laundry room door to find an entire new box of baby laundry detergent all over the floor with her water bowls dumped over it and some of the dirty clothes in the hamper mixed in the detergent. She was really trying hard, but it just didn't work.

30 weeks
EJ's dad painted her room Thursday in our new house which by the way we closed on Wednesday (pictures to follow). It looks so good!! We just got back from Indiana visiting my brother and his family. We came home with a car load of baby stuff for Ensley!! They gave us their crib, bouncy seat, floor swing, carrier, boppy, plus more!!! So I spent Thursday moning cleaning it all and getting it ready to go in Ensley's new room. I can't wait to see it all put together.
Yesterday we had a baby shower back home (pictures to follow) and we stopped to see my Papaw on the way home. He was so excited that we were coming by that he called my dad and said, "I'm so excited they're coming. I was afraid 9 months was gonna come and go and I wasn't going to get see that little girl pregnant." He is our only grandparent still living so he will be Ensley's only great grandparent. He was so precious yesterday...he wanted to know what she would call him...Grandpapaw. He said call me when your on your way to deliver her. Ensley is so blessed with such an amazing family!!
