A Short but Welcomed Surprise Visit

Sunday night my sister in law called and said she and our nieces would be passing through and wanted to know if it would be okay if they stopped and spent the evening with us. Would it be okay? Seriously?! Of course it was okay!!
They arrived Monday evening and Chali was so excited about going to her first baseball game. She sang "Take Me Out to The Ballgame" multiple times on the trip to Watertown to watch her Uncle E's Purple Tigers play baseball.
We had a short and sweet visit and I even got to sleep in the middle of a precious girlie sandwich on the couch bed.

Why Me, God?

Sunday morning at church, our pastor made a comment that has made me ponder things in my life. He said, "Don't ask God 'why' in the bad times if you don't ask Him 'why' in the good times."

I don't often ask Him "why me?" when something goes wrong because I truly believe that His plan is bigger and better for the glory of His Kingdom and I believe His plans are to prosper and not to harm.

It is natural for me to ask "why me?" when something BIG comes along like a house that is great deal at just the right time or the perfect job at the perfect time or a husband who loves me and more importantly loves Him.

So why did Pastor's comment make me ponder? Because it made me realize how much I take for granted every day. I fail to wake up every day and ask God "why me?" concerning the everyday things that I don't deserve.

WHY have You given ME breath today? Thank you!
WHY did You protect ME in my car on the way to work? Thank you!
WHY have You provided an abundance of food for ME? Thank you!
WHY do You continually draw ME close to You despite my shortcomings? Thank you!
WHY have You given ME good health thus far? Thank you!
WHY have You blessed ME with an amazing family? Thank you!
WHY did You forgive ME? Thank you!
WHY did Jesus die for ME? Thank you!

Why don't His everyday blessings amaze me and leave me in awe every moment?...because I don't take time to reflect on His goodness every moment like I should. I would encourage you to sit back and reflect on His goodness in your life and I am sure you will quickly ask "why me God?!"

Faux Camping

We have been wanting to go camping for a long time but never made it...until now. We wanted to take the dogs but weren't sure how they would do with a campfire and sleeping in a tent so we decided to give it a trial run in our backyard first. My little Eagle Scout put our tent up while I was at work yesterday (he's on spring break). When I got home we took the dogs for an hour and half long hike. We grilled burgers, cheddar wursts, and chicken then built a fire in our fire pit for s'mores...yummm. The puppies did so good! They enjoyed sitting by the fire with us (especially when we started dropping crumbs from the s'mores). Duke slept in his bed right beside us and Kala took the opportunity to sleep on top of our sleeping bags (which we didn't mind because it was a little chilly and her body heat was welcomed). With the success of this faux camping trip, we will hopefully take some real camping trips in the future.

No More Rasta

Duke spent the day at the doggie spa and got a bath and haircut. It was long overdue!!!! He had picked up the nickname Bob Marley because the curls on his head hung down in front of his eyes and looked like dreds. I guess he'll need a new nickname now that he has a 'fro.
They gave him a little St. Patty's Day bandana...Isn't he cute?

Calling All Prayer Warriors

EJ's dad is having heart surgery in Memphis on Thursday morning. Please pray for him and his recovery; pray for the physicians, nurses, etc; pray for his sweet wife Martha Kaye; pray for us and the rest of the family.
We are confident that God is in control of every breath and every situation. We are confident that God has the power to heal him without surgery and we are trusting that His plan will bring Him glory.
Thank you for your prayers.

0-1

I have good news and bad news. The good news is the Tigers played their first game today and they looked good. The bad news is they lost 7-4. They play in a local tournament this weekend and I am really hoping they win at least one game to boost their confidence for the rest of the season. I will keep you updated.

Peter Pan

The faculty at EJ's school dressed up as storybook characters today. A group of them got together and decided to dress up as the cast of Peter Pan. Here are some pictures of our very own Peter Pan: Man in Tights.
