His Ways are Better

We got a call from our realtor this morning saying the buyer's loan was declined. As you know we were originally going to close on the 15th and the closing kept getting pushed back. We had a feeling this wasn't going to turn out good. I told EJ last night that I didn't have a good feeling and it was a little upsetting because at this point our house has been 'off the market' while pending for two months now and we only have one month left for buyers to take advantage of the $8K tax credit but we are trusting God's plan for our lives.

I started to walk around the house this morning to re-stage it with the remaining furniture that has not been already put in storage. I got a little frustrated when I realized all of the pictures that were on the walls where the empty nail holes are now packed up in storage somewhere....the legs to the small breakfast table are somewhere in storage...the dining room chairs are in storage...the books that go in the bookshelf are in storage, etc, etc. I had to sit down and say a little prayer. Please pray that I don't get frustrated during this process but that I would allow this to be a time of trusting His plan and growing closer to Him.

Luckily we had a good realtor who advised us not to sign a lease on the apartment until closing was final so we weren't stuck with a lease and mortgage. We were holding the apartment with a deposit and told them what we were waiting on. I called them today and they were super understanding and gave us our deposit back.

On a lighter note, we drove by our new house yesterday and the foundation is laid and they have started on the plumbing. I can't believe that a little over 3 months from now we will be in our new home! I can't wait! I went to a friend's house yesterday who just moved in to their new house last month and I was telling her looking at her house and the little details they had chosen were so similar to our choices and it excited me to see because I feel like that is very similar to what our house will look like when finished! Everything from the paint color on the wall to the oil rubbed bronze levers on the doors to the color of granite to the iron spindles on the staircase...eeeeeee!!! I can't wait!

Valentine's Weekend

We have had a fant-abulous weekend together!!
Friday night we went out to eat then went to see VDay.
Saturday we packed a little in the morning then went to Springfield to watch some of the girls in my Sunday School class play and cheer in the middle school state basketball tournaments. We stopped at OpryM*lls on the way home just to stroll around and find some good President's Day sales. Then we went to a friend's house to watch the UK vs UT basketball game...the Vols were hanging tough until the last 5 minutes, GOSH!

Sunday after church we went out to eat again then went to Av*tar...which was surprisingly better than I had expected, then back to church that evening.

Monday morning we woke up to more snow!! We drove around town looking for the perfect sledding hill and found it! It was a long walk up but it was soo worth it on the way down. We enjoyed laughing and playing together in the snow.
We came home just in time to change clothes and go to our much needed couple's massage. Yesterday was back to the real world but today we get to meet up with Scott & Sherrie from Washington and my parents in Nashville for dinner and I am so excited!!

14 Weeks

Here is what's going on in the coming week with Baby Wood:

Little one is growing to about the size of a fist and is sprouting hair.

Mom is feeling great. I have been having tired spells about midday the past month or so but those are starting to fade and I am getting more energy back. Now I am going to use that energy to clean this house that has been neglected for the past month or so.

The Ring of Fur

Our boxer Kala has this bed that she absolutely loves and it is so tattered and worn now that it is just a ring of fur. She has pawed the bottom out of it and kicks the pillow out if we put it back in the ring. She lays on the carpet in her ring of fur and couldn't be happier. Every night when we are ready for bed we sing to Kala to the tune of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire...Kala go get in your burnin ring of fur...and it burns, burns, burns. The ring of fur.

We have talked about getting her a new bed but if it ain't broke don't fix it. She loves curling up in that thing...too funny!

Daily Conversations

Just a few conversations from work today that are a glimpse into my life...

Conversation #1
Me: Let me demonstrate how to use this inhaler. After shaking the inhaler and taking the cap off, you want to exhale completely. Then seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Push down on the actuator while taking deep breath in, then hold your breath for 10 seconds.
Patient : Like in the old days when you'd smoke on a doobie and hold your breath to get the effects.
Me (with a look of shock): Well I don't know about that. Just make sure you hold your breath to allow the medication to reach the lungs. Now can you repeat back to me how to use your new inhaler.

Conversation #2
Me: How can I help you?
Patient: I only got 2 weeks supply of my injection and want to know why.
Me: Ok, let me take a look at your profile....Well, it looks like the physician wrote the prescription for a 2 week supply so that is why we filled it that way.
Patient: Well I don't want to come up here every 2 weeks.
Me: Understandable. I would be happy to call your physician tomorrow morning and see if the 2 week supply was intentional or if they would be willing to change it to a 30 day supply.
Patient: No. I want a refund.
Me (thinking, well you're a moron): Well, you have already gotten this medication twice from this prescription and it was filled as written by the physician so I can't refund your money, but I would be happy to call the physician in the morning.
Patient: No. I'll take care of it and take my prescription somewhere else.
Me: Ok. Have a good night!

This is a normal day at work for me and these are just a couple of the crazy conversations. I just don't understand some people!! God grants me such patience while working with the public. Just thought I would give a glimpse into my crazy world.

156 bpm

EJ went with me today for his first visit to the OB/GYN...ha!

I got the results from all the lab work I did at my last visit and everything was healthy and I finally know my blood type now. I have been feeling fine throughout the whole pregnancy thus far, let's just pray it continues. I had some slight nausea for about 6 weeks but nothing that a few crackers or a muffin couldn't handle. But anyway, now on to the more important stuff. We heard little one's heartbeat for the first time. She said it was a strong heart beat at 156 bpm.

It was so amazing to hear the heartbeat! I can't believe some people can say that little person growing and thriving inside me right now is not a person yet...my gosh!!! It has a little heart that is beating like a hummingbird!! The doctor starting telling us about all of the available tests/screenings we can do in the next few visits. I told her we weren't interested because even if little one comes out with one eye it won't matter to us.

We are so excited about this precious little addition to our family! Eight more weeks and we get our first pictures of the little bundle of joy! Stay tuned!
