Just a few conversations from work today that are a glimpse into my life...
Conversation #1
Me: Let me demonstrate how to use this inhaler. After shaking the inhaler and taking the cap off, you want to exhale completely. Then seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Push down on the actuator while taking deep breath in, then hold your breath for 10 seconds.
Patient : Like in the old days when you'd smoke on a doobie and hold your breath to get the effects.
Me (with a look of shock): Well I don't know about that. Just make sure you hold your breath to allow the medication to reach the lungs. Now can you repeat back to me how to use your new inhaler.
Conversation #2
Me: How can I help you?
Patient: I only got 2 weeks supply of my injection and want to know why.
Me: Ok, let me take a look at your profile....Well, it looks like the physician wrote the prescription for a 2 week supply so that is why we filled it that way.
Patient: Well I don't want to come up here every 2 weeks.
Me: Understandable. I would be happy to call your physician tomorrow morning and see if the 2 week supply was intentional or if they would be willing to change it to a 30 day supply.
Patient: No. I want a refund.
Me (thinking, well you're a moron): Well, you have already gotten this medication twice from this prescription and it was filled as written by the physician so I can't refund your money, but I would be happy to call the physician in the morning.
Patient: No. I'll take care of it and take my prescription somewhere else.
Me: Ok. Have a good night!
This is a normal day at work for me and these are just a couple of the crazy conversations. I just don't understand some people!! God grants me such patience while working with the public. Just thought I would give a glimpse into my crazy world.
Congrats to me?

I can relate. I used to be a Behavior Therapist and work in the homes. My clients were children diagnosed with Autism.
Boy oh boy the things I would see. I realized how different we all live our lives. You have to have a sense of humor and that is what got me through my day.
I liked your story, thank you for sharing:)
Wow... lol. I'd love to hear your other conversations! :)
