I had the opportunity yesterday to attend the Nashville Tax Day Tea Party in front of the state capitol. As a conservative Christian who stands for what is right, I get frustrated and feel like I/we are the minority so often. I often wonder how many people across the country feel the way I do about some of the big issues.Today at legislative plaza, I was encouraged to see thousands of concerned citizens (estimated 10,000) in Nashville alone who are fed up with big government, big spending, big bailouts and disgusted at the thought of increasing taxes to bail out more irresponsible people. There were a dozen or so tea parties across Tennessee and close to 700 tea parties in every state across our great country. At the Nashville location, there were people from every socioeconomic class and every race. I think DC will get the picture that we the people are sick of their spending and sick of paying for their carelessness. I hope for the sake of my future, my children's future, and this country's future that our administration will wake up and listen! I will end with some pictures of clever signs at the tea party and Phil Valentine's motto regarding elections in 2010.

Another good one said, "Free Market NOT Freeloaders!"The Purple Tigers had the privilege of playing at Cumberland University's baseball field yesterday. (For those of you who don't know, they won the NAIA National Championship in 2004 and make it to the championships often. So needless to say they have a good program and a beautiful field.) They played a local private school that has the reputation of being a great school in athletics The Purple Tigers (the underdogs) played well and beat them 5-3. It was so exciting! I was proud of the progress that the kiddos have made over the last year under their excellent new coach (biased...who? not me!). Congratulations Purple Tigers! (They are now 8-5...much improved from last year's 2-8 record).

First off, let me say that the Tigers have a distinct privilege of being coached by such an awesome guy, and I am not at all biased either!
Second, I went to the Franklin Tea Party and cried when we sang the anthem, with Meg strapped onto my back, thinking of how I don't want where she came to to resemble where she left in any way.
Third, thank you for sayingthat Christians are right. I have been having this discusion so much lately about how our culture doesn't wan to tell anyone they are wrong, but the fact of the matter is, if I am right (and I am) then some people, by definition HAVE to be wrong. I'm sorry, but that's how it is. Yes, Jesus called me to love the wrong ones too, and I do, I really really do, but He didn't call me to let them bask in their "wrong-ness." We are entering a time in our country where I could be pegged as a terror threat for even having that belief and saying it out loud. There may come a day when someone knocks on my door for writing this, I believe it's coming to that in this country because I believe it's prophesied and I don't think we're going to stop this thing! :(
